Ugo Dossi / Chess & Art
»Dossi presents high-level chess as an art and thereby makes a new point in the philosophy of fine art. For the first time in the history of chess (or in the corresponding artistic tradition), he makes all the moves of one game simultaneously visible, tracing the player’s pattern of thought. From this picture, Dossi infers the character of a game and interprets it with a complementary visual object: his objects are both descriptions and analyses of the game and, because they synthesize a temporal process, are rife with room for interpretation. Game and art are identical here.«
